Black Bean Burger

Ingredients (makes 6 patties)

  • 1 – 19oz can black beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • ½ white onion finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp fresh chopped cilantro
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp pink Himalayan sea salt
  • ½ tsp ground pepper
  • ¼ cup vital wheat gluten
  • ¼ cup organic ketchup

Directions: 

Preheat oven to 390 degrees Fahrenheit

Mash beans until they are a “lumpy mashed potato” consistency.  Add quinoa, onion, cilantro, salt, pepper and ketchup and mix together.  Add vital wheat gluten and stir until the mixture stiffens.

Form into 6 patties and place on parchment paper covered baking sheet. Let sit in fridge for 20 minutes before cooking.

Bake at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 min, turn and cook for another 10-15 minutes until outside is browned and patties hold their form.
